Andrew stopped mid-punch. He didn't realize it, but he was starting to get consumed by his rage. So, having Amy hold him back gave him a chance to cool off a little and regain his senses."Fine. I'll let you go. But just know this: if you ever, and I mean ever, do something like this again, I will not hesitate to break both of your hands," Andrew declared with a cold glare at Thomas.
He then dropped Thomas like a sack of trash and looked at Amy behind him. "I apologize for making a scene, Ms. Amy. I just got carried away, seeing that guy treat Jessica like that."
Seeing him calm down, Amy released the hug, took a step back, and stared into his eyes. "I understand. It's a natural reaction, Mr. Andrew. However, I'm afraid things won't end like this. There will be consequences to all of this."
As soon as she finished, a bunch of people rushed to check on Thomas, who was lying on the ground.
They picked him up from there and carried him to the sofa, while someone else brought a first-aid kit from the nearby bar to attend to his wounds.
"Mr. Thomas, are you okay? Here, put some ice on your jaw. It will reduce the swelling." One woman brought a pack of ice wrapped in a towel towards Thomas.
Thomas snatched it away and pressed it against the side of his swollen cheek and jawline. There was blood dripping down his chin onto the white shirt he was wearing under the grey suit. And it hurt too much.
However, his angry, hateful gaze stayed on Jessica and Andrew. Especially Andrew, as he was the one who injured him, not only beating the shit out of him but also humiliating him in front of everyone.
It made Thomas wish he could kill Andrew right this instant, but he knew he was too weak to do anything to him.
And what pissed him off even more was that no one said anything after all this. In fact, some of the other influential people who were invited to this event just ignored him like some unwanted stranger on the street, treating him as if he were invisible.
Even Amy didn't come over to apologize to him. Instead, she just gave him a side glance and then continued talking with Jessica and Andrew.
"I can understand how you two feel. It was unacceptable for Mr. Thomas to harass Jessica and insult her like that," Amy said while staring at Jessica and Andrew with a serious expression.
"Still, violence is never the answer. You both know what kind of industry we work in. We all need to avoid getting involved in anything that could harm our image in the long run. No matter how angry you get or how much you want to protect someone, never use violence when dealing with conflicts. This would just backfire on everyone involved."
Amy's words made Andrew realize that the situation might affect his sister negatively, who he was responsible for, and he just wanted her to avoid any controversy.
But even so, he still didn't regret doing this to Thomas and would do it again in a heartbeat. No man could get away with touching his sister and insulting her without a few punches. That was something Andrew could never accept and forgive.
Of course, next time he'll make sure there won't be any witnesses around and do it in secret.
"I understand, Ms. Amy. It was my mistake. I should've just taken Jessica away from the scene instead of hurting him." Andrew replied, playing along with Amy's words.
Amy gave him a small nod and then looked at Jessica, who hadn't spoken a single word since everything happened, still staring at Andrew while clutching her arm.
Seeing this, Amy walked away from both of them, going to attend to the guests instead to apologize for the inconvenience and explain the situation as much as she could.
Meanwhile, Eva and Katrina, who watched everything from a short distance, approached Jessica and Andrew.
"Holy shit. Andrew, I didn't know that you were so strong. That guy got thrown out in one punch." Eva held one of Andrew's hands in hers while she talked excitedly about the incident. "I never thought that you'd be such a hothead who could do something like that. I mean, beating the shit out of someone and being ready to kill them at any moment—isn't that what psychopaths do?"
Katrina rolled her eyes at Eva. "Will you stop that already, Eva? And can't you see that Jessica is still shocked from what just happened?" She then looked at Jessica with a worried expression. "Hey, are you okay? Do you need something to drink? Some water, maybe? Maybe you should get a little rest."
Her concern brought Jessica back from her daze, and she shook her head. "No, Katie, thanks. I'm okay. It's just that... I... I..." She looked at Andrew for a brief second and then continued. "I just got shocked by Andrew's sudden behaviour."
"Well, yeah, I'm also shocked as well. That dude flew like... five meters from his punch!" Eva exclaimed again.
Her energy was on full throttle. She didn't care for Thomas at all; after all, she disliked people in this party to begin with. The only reason she came here was because she wanted to tag along with Katrina.
Andrew, on the other hand, ignored Eva's words and pulled Jessica close, checking her arm.
"Does it still hurt? Tell me honestly."
Seeing him look so worried about her, Jessica shook her head and wrapped her hands around his body, burying her head into his chest.
"No. It doesn't hurt. Thanks for protecting me, Andrew. But promise me one thing, please."
"What is it?" Andrew asked.
Jessica looked up into his eyes and continued, "Never do something reckless like this again. I don't like seeing you get in trouble because of me. Just promise me you won't."
Hearing her words, Andrew smiled and placed a hand on top of her head.
"I promise. I won't make you worry anymore."
