261. Compound Killer Move

Bai La’s recent performance instantly felt overshadowed. She was a rank 7 gu immortal only in name as she barely survived her tribulation and was lost in the dream realm for a long time. Their bodies fused and increased in size under Lo Jik’s horrified gaze.

They had strange shapes and irregular sizes.

“There’s not enough immortal essence in the gu house. “What is it? Be quick about it!” Bai La snorted coldly and demanded crudely. Her gaze met Lo Jik’s equally frustrated one as the latter clicked his tongue.

“I suspect they desire Dang Hun Mountain. We are trapped here… leaving Hu Immortal Blessed Land without any protection. Sure, there’s Little Hu Land Spirit, but what if she isn’t enough?”

Dang Hun Mountain!

It was a legendary secluded domain of heaven and earth mentioned in with a value no worse than Love Gu. More importantly, Dang Hun Mountain did not have stringent conditions to use and could effortlessly raise a sect’s foundation.

“It is a great conspiracy.” Lo Jik added darkly, pinning Bai La with a cold glare. “Someone knew about your injuries, Senior La. They came prepared enough and trapped us all because we were busy helping you.”

“Don’t you dare pin this on me, you scum!” Bai La hissed. “We’ve yet to settle our score. Do you have any idea what Little Huang’er saw?!”

“There’s no score,” snorted Lo Jik. “You’re just a fucking loser who can start kissing my immortal ass. Might as well do it before I die. And unlike you, I might become another otherworldly demon in a different world.”

They transmitted their words while defending and avoiding the attacks from their opponents. Bai Qing, Mi Yao, and Black Moon couldn’t help but lament the time the pair chose to air their grievances as Mi Yao suddenly changed the subject.

“Fairy Bai Qing’s words are sound. Just because Spirit Affinity House is a rank 8 gu house does not imply we can use it as one. The battlefield killer move outside Soul Taker Battlefield might be even more dangerous. Spirit Affinity House is our best trump card and must be used when we have nothing else left… that said, I need some time. I have a method that can damage Soul Taker Battlefield.”

“I can deal with these soul beasts, Jian Yi Sheng, and Bi Sun.” Lo Jik volunteered. “My killer move is the best in this scenario. It’s a mortal killer move with the effects of an immortal gu worm. Meanwhile, those two lone gu immortals are wary enough of me. It can help me buy more time for the rest of you. But you all need to deal with the other gu immortals.”

“Let’s try your method, Fairy Mi Yao.” Black Moon agreed after a moment’s hesitation.

“Leave those two rank 6 gu immortals to me.” Bai Qing spoke resolutely.

“That leaves the lion’s share with me…” Bai La gritted her teeth.

“Because it’s your mess.” Lo Jik goaded and ended the communication before she could answer anything.

Self Dharma!

A sun-like brilliance gushed out of Lo Jik like a tangible fountain. Two desolate soul beasts were tossed sideways in a flash as a sixty-meter-tall giant of strength qi oozing elegance and power rolled its shoulder and straightened its back. It resembled Lo Jik with two long and noticeable bangs floating like celestial ribbons. Scales extended from its arms and covered the sharp claws similar to the scales extending from its back to a long, jagged spine-riddled, draconic tail.

Inside the translucent and bright strength qi stood Lo Jik with a serious look.

This was his famed mortal killer move!

Jian Yi Sheng and Bi Sun knew about it. In fact, Lo Jik’s prowess was known enough and spread to odd circles in Treasure Yellow Heaven. Groups from Central Continent and Southern Border especially paid it a great deal of attention because there was only one other gu immortal publicly renowned to have deduced a killer move with the strength comparable to an immortal gu worm.

The first gu immortal narrowed his eyes and instantly controlled the desolate-level soul beasts to attack Lo Jik.

“Hmph!” Lo Jik didn’t avoid the charge and surprisingly caught the nearby soul beast by the jaw and crushing its head whole.

‘Oh? Did he modify this killer move?’

Soul beasts, as the name implied, were similar to souls and were impervious to ordinary methods. They were difficult to deal with as it is. The blue flames on their bodies made them even more obnoxious. However, Lo Jik modified Self Dharma and included several soul path gu worms. While it allowed him to engage the soul beasts in a combat, it also had the disadvantage of making his killer move far more complicated and expending significantly more thoughts.

Meanwhile, Bai La, Black Moon, and Bai Qing desperately defended Mi Yao as she prepared her killer move.

Unfortunately, others also noticed their intention of protecting Mi Yao and focused on attacking her, greatly increasing the pressure on others.

The other two rank 7 gu immortals revealed a trace of astonishment as they were a breath too late. Water vapors condensed into countless shining blue sparrows. The light in this sparrow group fluctuated and moved freely like water. They were like a group of endless blue fireflies in the world of ghastly souls, chirping harmoniously.

‘Go!’

The countless sparrows shot out at once. They did not target the gu immortals, beast groups, or soul beasts. Instead, they directly struck Soul Taker Battlefield’s perimeter and perished one by one with a crisp noise of a jewel shattering against a hard surface.

They transformed into glowing motes of light when destroyed and stuck to the dark mist, sparkling like stars in the night sky.

The effects of the killer move appeared at once. The pace with which the soul beasts formed instantly fell and they no longer healed and reformed quickly.

‘A compound killer move.’ Lo Jik’s gaze shined with interest. What Fairy Mi Yao achieved was truly brilliant and a rare feat in the gu world. She hid herself too deeply and pretended to be a weak gu immortal when in reality she was an extreme skilled master of water and enslavement paths to the point of developing an immortal killer move involving both these paths.

Ordinary killer moves belonged to one path even when they incorporated gu worms of other paths. For instance, Lo Jik used rank 5 Multiply Gu in several of his refinement and strength path killer moves as a support gu even when it was a rule path gu worm. Compound killer moves, on the other hand, involved the application of two or more paths! Such killer moves were obviously more fatal as the opponent needed to consider the effects of two or more different paths when defending.

“This is an incomplete killer move. That’s why it took so long to activate,” Mi Yao explained softly as she regained her bearings. “It’s something I had been developing for a few years now. Alas, I had to make a fool of myself today. It’s an immortal killer move using water and enslavement paths.”

As she transmitted these words, Fairy Mi Yao suddenly activated another effect of the killer move. The glowing spots dotting the entirety of Soul Taker Battlefield condensed into pieces of soft blue-colored jades!

Water Jades!

This was Mi Yao’s signature move, something that followed her legend as her moniker.

The first gu immortal suddenly coughed a mouthful of blood as Soul Taker Battlefield shuddered and rumbled with a deep noise.

“It’s working!” Lo Jik gasped before praising Mi Yao. “Your methods are incredible, Fairy Mi.”

Mi Yao smiled faintly before shaking her head.

“Trouble isn’t over yet, Brother Lo Jik.” She regarded the recently advanced gu immortal warmly after being aware of his scheming nature. His act of plotting Jun Ki’s death fresh out of his ascension was simply too dangerous to ignore.

“This is the effect of my killer move,” Mi Yao addressed the group of mysterious gu immortals as the water jade continued spreading. “It may not be able to directly break Soul Taker Battlefield, but it was not impressive in the first place. After all, none of you are Spectral Soul Demon Venerable. Such an outstanding battlefield killer move is wasted on you all! How else would my killer move have such a notable effect?”

Battlefield killer moves carved dao marks temporarily in the surrounding regions, creating a favorable domain for the user and unfavorable environment for one’s enemy. To interfere with these temporary dao marks like Mi Yao’s attack was a sound logic, but most gu immortals knew better and devised battlefield killer moves that could resist such attacks. That’s why she felt confident in her chance of taking down Soul Taker Battlefield. The enemies must not have obtained the complete killer move and modified an incomplete inheritance to produce this pale .

“What should we do?” Jian Yi Sheng and Bi Sun communicated with each other.

“We did not even get to plunder Hu Immortal Blessed Land. Sigh, we must lay low after escaping Tian Ti Mountain. Truly, greed blinded me.” Bi Sun lamented his recent choices.

“You are still outnumbered,” shouted one of the rank 7 gu immortals as they restarted their assault. “And there is yet another battlefield killer move around this one. Haha, why else do you think we had to weaken Soul Taker Battlefield?”

“Hmph!” The first gu immortal quickly healed themselves and attacked with renewed vigor.

“Then let me see how great your next trap is!” Bai La hissed coldly in response as she released the killer move she had been preparing for a few breaths.

A brilliant golden light materialized around Bai La and the remaining gu immortals. It was like the sun, resembling a blooming lotus.

The grand golden lotus shot forward with an impressive speed as it endured the attacks of all the gu immortals before ramming into a peculiarly large stretch of water jades.

It tore through, creating a massive hole in Soul Taker Battlefield as it escaped outwards!

“Qing’er, now!” Bai La gave her signal as Bai Qing concentrated and opened the entrance of her blessed land a tiny bit, releasing a gu house.

It was a two-story white and blue house designed with a skywell in the center.

Rank 8 immortal gu house—

All of them hurried within the gu house and entered the open area of the skywell.

“Hurry, lend me all of your support.”

Bai Qing spoke quickly as everyone took out a significant share of their beads of immortal essence. Usually, one could not mix and share everyone’s immortal essence to activate gu worms. This is where gu houses shined. It could be activated using anyone’s immortal essence!

Even Lo Jik took out a surprising amount of forty beads of immortal essence stones. It was only impressive due to his recent ascension. In the grand scheme of things, it could not even utilize Spirit Affinity House for more than a fraction of a second.

The greatest share of immortal essence came from Bai La and Bai Qing.

Meanwhile, another rank 7 gu immortal observed Spirit Affinity House from the outside. As Lo Jik predicted, it was not Tian Ti Mountain waiting for them after escaping Soul Taker Battlefield but a battlefield killer move. Their surroundings were completely green and lively. Gigantic trees grew from the ground and surpassed the height of usual mountains, effortlessly dwarfing the impressive rank 8 immortal gu house in size.

“What should we do?” That gu immortal felt worried as others dispelled Soul Taker Battlefield and appeared on the same battlefield killer move.

“Spirit Affinity House… to think they had it…”

“Let’s not waste our time deciding between the two choices,” spoke another gu immortal. “We’ll need them all for master’s plan.”

“Did you locate the other one?” The first gu immortal from the beginning asked the gu immortal who was already present in the second battlefield killer move.

“Yes. I had enough time to divine its location. But we’ll need more foundation to plunder both of them.”

Just as those words left his mouth, tall and sturdy branches instantly shot out from the nearby trees, striking Jian Yi Sheng and Bi Sun.

Everyone except the first gu immortal attacked the unfortunate and shocked gu immortals together as they soon lost their lives.

“What… what are they doing?” Mi Yao’s eyes widened as she observed everything from within the gu house. Bai La had firstly activated the gu house’s defenses and started preparing to move. Unfortunately, it was a rank 8 gu house and even a recently advanced rank 7 gu immortal struggled to mobilize the gu house without appropriate resources. All of this could be blamed on the sect politics. This gu house was the sect’s property and was meant to remain stationary. As such, Fairy Yi and First Supreme Elder did not leave their immortal essence inside the gu house.

What they did leave was their will, which assisted Bai La and activating crucial aspects of the gu house.

On the outside, one of the seven gu immortals proficient in wind path killer moves activated a strange killer move. He released greyish soul fog and quickly assimilated the two gu immortals’ corpses, not even leaving their immortal apertures behind!

“It should be enough.”

The third rank 7 gu immortal nodded and took a deep breath.

‘To think they were targeting this...’ Lo Jik mused secretly, deceptively calm despite the trace of poorly-veiled panic in his eyes. Their motives only clicked in his mind now.

The veins on Bai La’s forehead bulged visible as she gritted her teeth and ignored the pain inside her head. Activating this gu house was a complex task and nearly exhausted all her thoughts!

“It’s ready!” The third rank 7 gu immortal suddenly pointed at the stationary Spirit Affinity House.

The entire gu house shook as the battlefield killer move let out a blinding green glow. Several thick branches shot out and instantly coiled around the gu house, trapping it in one location. Huge leaves grew out from the branches, further enveloping Spirit Affinity House as Bai La’s expression changed.

“This is—”

She coughed a mouthful of blood. Her eyes suddenly burst open and a geyser of blood poured out of her sockets, soaking the woman.

“Bai La!” Lo Jik rushed forward and held her before she could fall. He instantly activated several mortal healing killer moves while inspecting her condition.

The entire gu house shook as Bai Qing gritted her teeth and ignored Bai La for the moment, hurriedly paying attention to the situation outside. Black Moon and Mi Yao were already scared witless by what they saw.

A part of the impressive gu house broke apart and an immortal gu flew out, surrounded by a grey light.

“They are… they are refining this gu house…” Bai Qing nearly fell unconscious herself before she quickly replaced Bai La as the user of the gu house and activated it alongside the will of the two supreme elders.

“Hurry!”

Mi Yao and Black Moon also stepped forward, no longer paying any attention to their losses and submitting even more beads of immortal essence.

Spirit Affinity House broke bit by bit as the group turned pale.

‘This isn’t a time path battlefield killer move. So, how are they planning on dealing with reinforcements?’ Lo Jik thought calmly while healing Bai La. He didn’t resort to his human path methods and only stabilized her condition while feeling giddy at the destruction of the gu house.

“That one is trickier than Spirit Affinity House.” The third rank 7 gu immortal transmitted to the rest as they controlled the battlefield killer move to hold Spirit Affinity House in the same spot. “Refining it whole at once will be dangerous and will take longer. Instead, I will trap it and you will take it to the headquarters. Refine it there.”

“Understood.” The first gu immortal nodded.

The third rank 7 gu immortal let out a soft shout as his entire body glowed a dim grey. His skin withered at a pace visible to the naked eye while the speed of the refinement increased! He was sacrificing his life!

“Just another moment!” Bai Qing hissed with a pale face as Spirit Affinity House brightened.

A grey light tore through the defenses as a rank 7 immortal gu worm flew out of the gu house. The gu house turned dim. The enemy directly refine one of the three core immortal gu worms of the gu house!

“Oh, no!” Black Moon heard Fairy Mo’s desperate shout before feeling at a slight loss.

Spirit Affinity House erupted with a great power and shook off its entanglement before shooting towards the other side of the battlefield killer move like a shooting star, escaping successfully!

“It’s… done…”

The third rank 7 gu immortal sighed deeply before dissipating into ashes with the wind. Meanwhile, the first gu immortal took in the several immortal gu worms snatched from Spirit Affinity House alongside a peculiar grey bead confining a droplet of sweat. Within the droplet of sweat, if one focused intently, was suspended a delicately architectured pavilion—another gu house.
