Chapter 452: Regaining What Was Lost
Chapter 452: Regaining What Was Lost
As the saying goes, "If men aren’t bad, women won’t love them." In reality, a beautiful bad woman can drive men even crazier.
Men’s liking for alluring vixens definitely exceeds their fondness for well-bred ladies.
Xu Xiangbei looked regretful: "I’m the new CEO of the Thunderbird Group, worth billions. If you return the painting and abandon your wicked ways, I can arrange a position for you in the company as the PR manager. You’re so pretty, it’s a shame to be a thief."
The girl laughed with delight: "Shameless, am I really that pretty? Let me tell you a secret, I’m not just pretty."
Yang Qianshou initially didn’t want to reveal his connection to the painting-stealing girl, but now that the secret was out, he couldn’t care less.
He called the old rat: "You bastard, I trusted you, even treated you to good wine, and you teamed up with her to deceive me. She’s captured by my grandson-in-law now. Bring me the paintings, including the Nine Cats Painting."
Twenty minutes later, the old rat hurried over, cursing Yang Qianshou: "You old fool, she’s my granddaughter, didn’t you say you’d treat her like your own? Yet you still tied her up, you old geezer."
"What about the painting, the Nine Cats Painting? You tricked me first."
"Those worthless paintings, I don’t care for them. Take them."
The old rat threw all the stolen paintings to Yang Qianshou, not keeping even the Nine Cats Painting.
"Where’s my wine?"
"I’m a man of my word. Since I promised you wine, I’ll certainly give it to you. I won’t deceive an old friend of decades. I’ll give it to you tomorrow."
The girl, rubbing her sore wrist, didn’t immediately leave with her grandpa. She walked up to Xu Xiangbei, exhaled charmingly, like an ancient snake demon, making Xu Xiangbei utterly captivated: "Handsome, does your offer still stand?"
Xu Xiangbei suppressed his inner fire: "Of course, if a girl as beautiful as you turned to the right path, it’d be wonderful. As they say, ’A prodigal who returns is worth more than gold’; it applies to girls too."
The girl, with her tattooed arm, embraced Xu Xiangbei’s neck, exhaling onto his face. Her tattoo, a crimson peony, made her even more captivating.
"Hehe, is that so? But I’m afraid I can’t be some PR manager; I’m not suited for office work."
"No worries. What’s your name? Can you leave your phone number? This way, I can contact you when there’s another position."
"I don’t have a real name, just call me Seven Girl. I don’t give my number out easily, but I’ll find you, my dear CEO."
With that, she vanished like a phantom with her grandpa, the old rat, leaving only her ghostly laughter lingering in the air.
Yang Qianshou stuffed the paintings into a tube, handing them to Xu Xiangbei: "Kid, I went through a lot for these paintings, almost ended decades-long friendships."
Xu Xiangbei smiled: "Thank you, Grandpa. I’ll bring your wine tomorrow morning. It’s already past midnight; we should rest."
"Kid, let me give you some advice: don’t mess with Seven Girl. That girl is a thorny rose; she might cover you in thorns. Better to be my grandson-in-law obediently."
Xu Xiangbei chuckled: "Grandpa, rest assured, Jenny will find you a perfect grandson-in-law."
Xu Xiangbei tossed the painting tube onto the passenger seat, driving his silver Porsche like a bolt of lightning away from the alley.
On the rooftops of the dark alley, Seven Girl watched the Porsche with tender eyes, a sultry smile curling her lips: "My dear son-in-law, if Jenny doesn’t want you, I do. Even if Jenny wants you, I still do."
When Xu Xiangbei returned to Purple Gold Villa, Su Xinyun was already asleep, while the light in Ah Rong’s room was still on.
Not wanting to disturb Ah Rong, Xu Xiangbei tiptoed to his room but accidentally kicked over the trash can.
Suddenly, the sound of a gun’s hammer cocking echoed behind him; Ah Rong stood there amazed, holding a gun.
Ah Rong put away the gun, coldly saying: "Oh, it’s you. Where have you been? It’s 3 a.m. now."
Xu Xiangbei raised the tube: "I went to find the painting. I went through hell and high water for it, almost lost my virtue."
Ah Rong managed a faint smile: "Lose your virtue? Isn’t that just what you wanted?"
"Hehe, why’re you holding a gun? Protecting Earth? Go to sleep; this isn’t a warzone."
Ah Rong stashed the gun back under her bed, closed the door, and turned off the light: "Goodnight."
Next morning, when Xu Xiangbei presented the three ink landscape paintings to Su Xinyun, she almost fainted, pouncing into Xu Xiangbei’s arms like a little rabbit.
"Thank you, you’re my savior. I don’t know how you found them, must’ve been very challenging. I don’t know how to repay you."
Xu Xiangbei grinned playfully: "If you want to repay me, why not marry me?"
Su Xinyun was taken aback; she’d never thought of such a way to repay. Xu Xiangbei suddenly burst into laughter: "I’m kidding; gotcha! You didn’t really want to marry me, did you?"
Su Xinyun laughed lightly: "I knew you were joking; I pretended to be scared."
Ah Rong glared at Xu Xiangbei, coldly interjecting: "If you dare joke like that with me, trust me, I’ll shoot."
Xu Xiangbei grimaced; I certainly can’t joke with you—joking with a madwoman is courting death.
All the paintings were recovered, including the million-dollar Nine Cats Painting. The museum curator even awarded Xu Xiangbei a Good Citizen Award for retrieving the painting.
However, what made the curator furious was that despite enhanced security, more electronic anti-theft devices, and round-the-clock patrols, the Nine Cats Painting was stolen again the next day.
